This Saturday on August 5th at 3 p.m. we are going to be talking about handles. How to pull handles and some clay hacks that I have figured out along the way. I will be demoing some tools from Kemper Tools for handle making, plus that nifty sprig mold from Amaco. I am bringing some cups from my collection. Heck, bring yours and we can make it a show and tell! Look forward to seeing you.
Hello all. It is March 2017 already! For the March Demo we will be doing my favorite form of marking on clay. Sgraffito! What is that? Sgraffito is a form of decoration made by scratching through a surface to reveal a lower layer of a contrasting color, typically done in slip on ceramics before firing. You don't have to know how to draw to do this technique. I am going to show you some tricks drawing hang ups. Demo is at 3 PM. I will also be showing masking techniques, water carving and a little inlaid clay. Hope to see you. We will have clay tiles for you to carve on. Free to all who come.
Exciting news! Roadrunner is hosting a hands-on Mayco Glaze Workshop on Thursday, December 1, 2016. Morning will be devoted to low-fire glaze products, tips and techniques, and afternoon will concentrate on hi-fire cone 5/6. All necessary materials will be provided, and participants may bring their own bisque pieces if desired. Lunch, and snacks and drinks are provided. Firing service is included. Cost for the event is $75. This should be a fun and informative workshop. Sign up before space is gone!
Everyone here at Roadrunner Ceramics would like to Thank everyone who came out to our Grand Opening this last Saturday. Mark your calendars for next years anniversary party. It will be in October. We really appreciate the support. Keep following the post. I will be posting about next Saturdays demo soon. Cheers.
We've passed all our inspections, and the store is officially open. This is a soft opening, and we are still building up stock levels, but the showroom at the north end of the building is open, and we couldn't be more chuffed! Pretty nice, if we say so ourselves. Stop by and visit us. And check out the Skutt workshop scheduled for next Thursday 8/18 at 6:00 pm. You'll learn everything you need to know about firing, programming, and maintaining your Skutt kiln, and become a better artist / craftsman. Hope to see you soon.
